Karel Appel - Dutch (1921-2006)

Karel Appel was a Dutch painter, born in Amsterdam on 25th April, 1921. He was first influenced by Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse and then by Jean Dubuffet. He established the COBRA movement in 1948 with Constant, Cornielle and others. He was also a noted sculptor and graphic artist.
