Hilary Elmes graduated from National College of Art and Design, Dublin in 1988 and has exhibited extensively since 1990 including exhibitions in the UK, Latvia, Germany and Ireland.
Her paintings are a light layered response to the constantly changing conditions of the surface of the landscape. Living in a rural environment Elmes interprets the fields around her as large planes of colour and growth. Her works are mainly oil on linen where she builds up broad surfaces of paint layers creating planes of colour, punctuated by boundary and horizon.
Her recent exhibition of works in the Nicholas Gallery have attracted much interest from serious art collectors. For further information and future exhibitions please contact the gallery.
